ng homes have 165 Retirement Homes across Possilpark and Springburn. The main aim of this service is to deliver a high quality Enhanced Housing Management services to tenants who live within Retirement Complexes.
What is Retirement Housing?
Retirement Housing is an enhanced housing and property management service delivered to tenants, aligned to the Scottish Secure Tenancy Agreement.
It is delivered by highly skilled local staff with knowledge and experience of tenancy and property maintenance services who will offer locally based advice and information services to tenants relating to welfare benefits, housing options and signposting to other services as required.
Our team will work with tenants groups and committees to develop activities that promote inclusion and aim to reduce social isolation for those living across the complexes and in the local community.
No regulated housing support services are provided by Retirement Housing Officers (RHO), however some tenants may receive housing support and/or care services from external providers.
What is provided:
- Providing advice and assistance to new tenants to enable them to settle into their new home.
- Carrying out periodic visits to tenants properties to undertake designated tasks to offer advice on tenancy issues, and to ensure equipment and fittings are safe and secure.
- Offering advice with regard to welfare reform and other benefit issues and to ensure that all tenants maximise their income to avoid financial hardship.
- Managing minor tenancy issues relating to the use of the building, use of the communal facilities and neighbour related issues.
- Offering advice regarding telecare equipment, adaptations and referrals for social care.
- Liaising with appropriate colleagues within ng homes regarding housing options advice, tenancy matters or support needs.
Hawthorn Retirement Complex
The complex has various facilities which include communal lounge/kitchen, assisted bathing area, laundry and hairdressing suite, guest bedroom, conservatory and beautiful enclosed garden area all houses have a community alarm within the property.
Activities on site are bingo, lunch club 2 day a week, fish supper night, carpet bowls, and film afternoon.
