Community regeneration: plans for our communities
ng homes reaches 50 years in 2026. Reaching this key milestone is a great achievement and we are very proud to have served the North Glasgow community throughout this time.
Since its beginnings in 1976, ng homes has played a key role in helping to improve housing, support communities and champion local people. Today, we are proud to be Scotland's largest community-based housing association, but our success has always been rooted in the communities we serve and the partnerships we build working together with local people.
Protecting our homes, preserving local heritage and ensuring that local voices shape future change have been central to our story from the very beginning. That commitment remains as important today as it was 50 years ago.
ng homes is about more than housing. Tenants, residents and the community remain at the heart of everything we do. We want to listen, learn and work with you to shape the future of our communities, helping our neighbourhoods to grow and thrive and be a place that people are proud to call home, both now and in the future.
We are committed to working with the community to celebrate and protect the proud history of Springburn and Possilpark and we aim to revive the area’s industrial legacy through the lens of new creative industries. Your ideas and experiences are essential in helping us develop plans that reflect local priorities and build on North Glasgow’s unique character to create a community where people can flourish and prosper.
Possilpark - Saracen Street and Stonyhurst Street
As part of our efforts to provide essential housing to address the national housing emergency and to support ongoing investment in the regeneration of Possilpark, ng homes has secured funding to refurbish and upgrade buildings on Stonyhurst Street. The buildings are currently empty as they require extensive refurbishment to bring the homes up to modern standards and ensure they are safe, warm and energy efficient.
We are working closely with local partners and business owners to rejuvenate the area and supporting ongoing regeneration work along Saracen Street. A further 600 homes, located at the edge of Hamiltonhill and managed by Queens Cross Housing Association, are nearing completion. Alongside Positive Possil, ng homes is leading on positive changes for Saracen Street including recently completed shop front renovations, helping to bring together the Possilpark community.

Springburn - Ayr Street (The Old Springburn Library)
We are looking to help preserve Springburn’s heritage and to provide much-needed space for organisations and individuals to deliver economic and social opportunities, provide a home for local organisations and ensure access for the Springburn community who are our tenants and local residents.
If discussions are successful, we hope to restore the building and use the space for the delivery of services linking in with our employability and entrepreneurship programmes, via our social enterprise ng2, as well as to support apprenticeships and programmes with local schools, providing training and business support for tenants and residents. The building will also serve as an additional opportunity to allow ng homes' Housing Services to be more accessible to the Springburn community.
