On the Road ... ng homes supprts careers day at St Roch's Secondary

ng homes was back out promoting housing as an highlighting career path through another Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) careers carousel at St Roch's Secondary School in North Glasgow.

Greg Cann (Project Manager, Regeneration), Alan Nicolson (Housing Assistant) and Lucy Brown (Housing Assistant) attended the Careers Carousel on 23 February to promote ng homes as an employer & the housing sector as a career option as part of the Association’s new employability initiative.

The visit was part of an ongoing plan to support local High Schools with employability initiatives in partnership with the DYW (Glasgow City Council's youth employability project).

A number of local businesses supported the event with the school hall awash with the buzz of lively chatter throughout the afternoon. A representative from St Roch's thanked ng homes for their time saying, "It's been great to have local employers (ng homes) along to show our pupils that the housing sector is a possible career for many in this community. Thank you once again for your ongoing support."

This engaging afternoon was the second outing for the team who had previously attended a DYW careers carousel at the end of January elsewhere in the local community. Staff shared stories about their own backgrounds and the routes they took into housing as well as information on the many careers which operate ‘behind the scenes’ in a housing association during a busy afternoon with pupils asking the team many engaging and insight questions.
