Update Thursday 30 March 2023 –

On Friday (24 March) Building Control requested ng homes work with them on the property.

Following the fire on Saracen Street on 16 March 2023, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service evacuated everyone from the building as a safety measure and an exclusion zone around the property was put in place.

Up to six cats were successfully removed from the property in question; a seventh cat, despite our best efforts, could not be enticed out. Building Control ensured the cat was safe and it had access to food and water.

Our structural engineers assessed the building and prioritised a plan to remove the cat, who was retrieved safely.

Our housing team have kept in close contact with all tenants and have provided support throughout the incident. The tenant has confirmed today that Poppy the cat is doing well.
