ng homes staff Inspire students at careers carousel in Glasgow

Staff from ng homes connected with the employees of tomorrow during recent career day in North Glasgow.

Project Manager Greg Cann, Housing Officer Lucy Brown and Housing Assistant Lois Campbell joined other local and national organisations at the October Careers Carousel at All Saints Secondary School in Glasgow, to promote ng homes as an employer and to highlight the housing sector as a rewarding career at the annual careers event on 2 October.

The session offered students a chance to gain an understanding about the many careers within the housing sector while ng homes staff spoke about their own backgrounds and the routes they took into housing.

ng homes Project Manager Greg Cann praised the event saying "It is always good to get out into the community and meet local young people and their teachers. These careers carousels are a fantastic way for us to educate and inform youngsters of the role of Housing Associations and what we as a local employer can offer."

The event aimed to expand students' horizons and provide them with a valuable insight into options after leaving school and are part of an ongoing project supporting local High Schools with employability initiatives in partnership with DYW Glasgow , Glasgow City Council's youth employability project.

Students had the opportunity to engage with employers, learning about potential career paths, future education options and had the chance to ask questions of those working within each of the organisations represented at the event.

The event aims to empower students with the knowledge and confidence they need to take the next steps toward their future careers. The Careers Carousel continues to be a pivotal part of the students' educational experience, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.

Principal Teacher of Developing the Young Workforce Mrs Farooq thanked ng homes for their longstanding support saying “We would like to thank (ng homes) for their support. Having local employers such as ng homes attend is invaluable to our event (as they are) based within our local community as well as having some of our former pupils as employees. This collaboration continues to not only provide students with real-world insights but also fosters links to job opportunities locally."

"By attending, ng homes demonstrates its ongoing commitment to community engagement, youth development, and creating opportunities for young people in the North Glasgow area."
