TACKLING homelessness and its causes are key priorities for ng homes.

We are committed to helping the Scottish Government meet its target of ensuring that every homeless person is given the right to a permanent home by 2012. As part of our commitment homeless applicants are given a high priority for re-housing by the Association.

We also provide training programmes aimed at giving people who have experienced homelessness vital skills to help sustain tenancies and increase job prospects.

The following guide has been produced to help people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

- If you are currently homeless and have no accommodation at all or are potentially homeless and live in the Glasgow area, Glasgow City Council has a legal obligation to offer you assistance and/or advice.

- If you live out with the Glasgow area, you should contact your local authority.

Examples of situations where you may be considered as potentially homeless are - if a mortgage lender is seeking to repossess your home due to arrears, if you have been given Notice to Quit by your landlord, if you have been asked to leave by family or friends or if you cannot return to your home due to threats of violence.

This is not a complete list of events and you should seek further advice from your local council regarding your own circumstances.

If you live within the North Glasgow area, you can seek advice on homelessness from Glasgow City Council’s North Community Casework Team between
